Cancer afflicts people of all ages, races and demographics. Treating cancer through traditional methods such as the following offer varying degrees of hope of potential prognosis.

·         Chemotherapy

·         Radiation

·         Surgery

·         Biological or hormone therapy

Depending on the type of cancer discovered, physicians will determine which options or treatments are best in every situation.  In some cases, a patient may have a choice of procedures or treatments, while other times, they will not. Certain factors will determine which treatment will provide optimal results, including what type of cancer, what organs or tissues are affected, as well as what stage the cancer is in. The earlier the stage of cancer development, the better for treatment prognosis. Overall health and age may also factor in to treatment plans.

A new type of cancer research includes what is known as targeted therapy. Such therapies are designed to specifically target and kill cancer cells without damage or destruction to surrounding healthy tissues or cells in the body. One such targeted therapy, called the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, prevents growth signals from tumors and restricts and inhibits their growth.

Unfortunately, cancer treatments are also very expensive but affordable cancer treatments and therapies are available around the world. Cancer treatment abroad can be found at the best cancer treatment hospitals in Mexico, through the best cancer specialists in Turkey, such as the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Istanbul and at famous cancer treatment in Jordan in places like Jordan Hospital. Some of the best breast cancer treatment in Thailand can be found in a variety of world class facilities.

The National Cancer Institute has determined that the four most common forms of cancers today are prostate, lung, breast and colorectal, though cases of melanoma skin cancer is on the rise for women, while testicular cancer is on the rise for men. Brain and bladder cancers are also on the rise, as are cancers of the kidney and thyroid.

Cancer treatments vary according to the stage the cancer is discovered, as well as location and overall health of the patient. Cancer staging is typically defined as Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3 and Stage 4, ranging from early and localized to those that have spread throughout the body.

Common cancer treatments include chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and biological or hormone therapy; every one of them is extremely expensive. According to the National Cancer Institute however, early detection is vital in more positive prognosis and treatment of cancers through a variety of methods.

Cost of cancer drugs such as Avastin in the U.S. may reach over $100,000 a year for some patients, often making them choose between life and financial security for their families. Even patients who have insurance often find that they can’t afford them, averaging about $50,000 a year. Some drugs for cancer patients cost an average of $800 a month, leaving little left over for living expenses.

Facilities around the globe may help cancer patients receive effective surgeries and therapies to treat cancer. Some of the best breast cancer treatment in Thailand or affordable cancer treatment in India in facilities such as Artemis Hospital offers international patients hope. Cancer treatment in Jordan, such as the Jordan Hospital, offer effective and state of the art procedures and techniques in cancer treatment.

Did you know that Americans spend an average of $30 billion dollars a year on weight loss medications and products? Some of them are effective while others are not. Obesity, like other long-term and chronic conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes often utilize the benefits of prescription drugs, but like any medication or drug, side effects from weight loss medications do occur.

On the other hand, obesity and weight loss treatments and surgeries are generally only an option for people who are more than 100 pounds overweight. Most physicians will first suggest a wide variety of treatments such as behavior modification, dieting, and exercise. Sometimes, a doctor will prescribe medications. When these fail, surgery is an option for those who have not responded to such treatments and who are severely obese.

Unfortunately, many people don’t realize that along with a multitude of weight loss treatments and surgeries, changes in attitude, lifestyle, and sometimes lifelong habits need to be addressed. Studies have shown that weight loss programs that don’t provide the support of counselors,  educators, nutritionists or support groups often fail.

Obesity and weight loss treatments in the United States are expensive, and few are covered by health insurance plans. However, facilities such as the Antiobesity Center, located in Cancun, Mexico offers not only weight loss procedures and surgeries, but support and management in long-term weight loss maintenance.

World-class weight loss and obesity centers located around the world, from 365 mc’s Obesity Clinic in Seoul, South Korea to the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz in Switzerland offer individuals seeking long-term weight loss and lifestyle changes not only affordable, but effective and successful - at prices you can afford.
