Gastric bypass surgery enables individuals who have not responded to typical diet and exercise treatments to lose massive amounts of weight. Patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery are able to lose up to 80% of their excess body weight in one year. Affordable bariatric surgery in Mexico or areas throughout Latin America offer world travelers, and many Americans, the best weight loss programs in the world. Gastric bypass surgery in Argentina, bariatric surgery in Guatemala and in world-class destinations like Cancun and Ensinada attract global travelers annually.

In the United States, gastric bypass surgery using the Roux-en-Y technique may cost as much as $25,000. The same technique performed in South America or Mexico in locations such as Mexicali Obesity Solutions in Mexico, costs may hover around $10,000 which often includes all-inclusive stay benefits.

Lap band surgery helps patients suffering with obesity and weight related medical disorders. Through this simple surgical technique, a smaller stomach becomes full sooner and empties into the intestines at a slower rate, promoting slower digestion.

In the United States, costs for Lap Band surgery ranges from $15,000 to $20,000. In Latin American countries such as Costa Rica, or Ecuador at facilities such as MedTravel Ecuador in Quinto, costs hover around $8,100.

Sleeve gastrectomy reduces the size of the stomach. Also known as a vertical gastrectomy, a partial gastrectomy, gastric reduction, as well as a greater curvature gastrectomy, this procedure is offered as an alternative to gastric bypass surgeries and removes up to 85% of the stomach.

Costs for this procedure ranged around $20,000 in the United States. Bariatric Surgeries/Angels Abroad in Guatemala offer U.S. board-certified bariatric surgeons with the best obesity surgery abroad.  In Costa Rica, costs may range around $9,100, while in Mexico costs range from $9,500-$13,500.

Counseling, group support, and understanding of diet and nutrition as well as the importance of exercise is vital in any successful gastric bypass surgery for obesity, any type of laparoscopic band surgery, and for long-term sleeve gastrectomy recovery and other bariatric surgeries.  Whether you go in for a lap sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic band surgery, a gastroplasty procedure, a gastric bypass operation, or any other form of bariatric surgery procedure, the individual undergoing the procedure must also make certain changes in his or her lifestyle, diet, and habits.

Weight loss clinics such as Angels Abroad Bariatric Surgeries in Guatemala City, the Antiobesity Center in Cancun, Mexico or the CTG Healthcare Group in Izmir, Turkey or 365 mc’s Bariatric Surgery Center in Seoul, South Korea offer professional bariatric surgery clinics, experienced leadership, structured exercise, group or individual meetings, prepackaged meals with dietary supplements and weight loss therapies that take behavioral and therapy components into consideration, helping individuals achieve a safe and healthy weight, with the tools necessary for maintaining such weight loss in the future.

Many individuals who undergo bariatric surgery, gastric bypass surgery, banded gastroplasty or lap band surgery believe that all it takes is a relatively simple surgical procedure that reduces the size of the stomach in order to achieve drastic and long-term weight loss.  Bariatric surgery for obesity, gastric bariatric surgery and obesity surgery specialists are available around the world to help overweight or obese individuals seek long term health and wellness.

Who do you know that has an extra $30,000 laying around? Not many. Unfortunately, that’s what some bariatric surgeries in the U.S. cost. Prices for obesity or weight loss surgeries average between $15,000 and $30,000, offering everything from laparoscopic gastric banding to vertical banded gastroplasty to gastric bypass.

Obesity weight loss surgery offers hope for health and longevity for many, but remains just out of reach for those who need it most. Most health insurance plans don’t cover gastric bariatric surgery or obesity surgery cost, though the effects of obesity continue to cause rises in cases of diabetes, heart disease and joint conditions for teens and adults.

Sleeve gastrectomy, gastric banding and gastric bypass are common obesity and weight loss procedures that are available in other countries, at lower prices than those found in the U.S. The prices are not lower because they’re lower quality, but because health care systems of other countries are set up differently, and because doctors and surgeons don’t need excessive amounts of medical malpractice coverage that U.S. based physicians and surgeons.

Facilities like Mexicali Obesity Solutions in Mexicali, Mexico or 365 mc’s Bariatric Surgery Center in Seoul, South Korea are just two of dozens of obesity surgery centers found around the globe, offering state of the art techniques and procedures at vastly reduced costs.

Locations throughout Central and South America, Southeast Asia and Europe offer weight loss and bariatric surgeries that are effective, affordable, and life changing.

Worldwide attention has been focused on the long term effects of obesity, as well as the cost of treating obesity-related conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure and coronary artery disease, just to name a few.

Bariatric or obesity surgeries in the U.S. can cost between $17,000 and $30,000. Unfortunately, in the U.S., many if not most weight loss or bariatric surgical procedures or obesity treatments are not covered by normal medical insurance.

Nevertheless, those traveling to global destinations may enjoy savings of tens of thousands of dollars in such locations as Mexico, South America and India. Accredited, state-of-the-art equipment and technology are making global obesity surgeries popular, common, and affordable in the 21st century.

Lap banding, also known as Laparoscopic Gastric Banding (LAGB), involves a silicone band placed around the entrance to the stomach. Patients might expect a 50 to 75% weight loss of 50 to 90 pounds in about 2 years.

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty is also known as stomach stapling. Surgical staples section off a small portion of the upper part of the stomach. Many individuals who choose this type of procedure are generally able to lose roughly 50% of excess weight within about 2 years.

Sleeve Gastrectomy is performed for those with a body mass index over 50. A major portion of the stomach is removed in this procedure. A person may expect to lose between 30 and 35% of their initial body weight, or roughly 40 pounds in about a year.

Successful and long-term weight loss and weight loss management also involves support, both short-term and long-term during the weight loss process.  Counseling, group support, and understanding of diet and nutrition as well as the importance of exercise is vital in any successful gastric bypass surgery for obesity, any type of laparoscopic band surgery, and for long-term sleeve gastrectomy recovery and other bariatric surgeries.

Traveling to another country to have a wide variety of procedures done has grown increasingly popular as costs for procedures continue to cause financial hardship and strain on Americans.  If you haven’t really seriously considered traveling to another country to have your procedure done, you should.  Traveling outside of national borders saves patients thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on various surgeries and medical procedures.  In some cases, choosing to have surgery abroad costs about a tenth of what you’d pay for the same procedure in the U.S.

Foreign weight loss facilities such as those found in South of the Border destinations offer some of the best obesity surgery abroad. Weight loss is important for health and wellness. Facilities like those provided by Dr. Marco More in Buenos Aires, Argentina or the Antiobesity Center in Cancun, Mexico, offer patients around the world affordable weight loss treatments that apply high standards of care and effective treatments.

Bariatric surgery is a catchall phrase for several different types of weight loss procedures and surgeries. Here are the basics:

Lap banding — Laparoscopic gastric banding (LAGB) is a process through which a silicone band, much like a rubber band, is placed around the entrance to the stomach.

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty — This procedure is commonly known as stomach stapling or VBG. Surgical staples are used to section off a small portion of the upper part of the stomach. The other side of this pouch is fitted with a band that slows the amount of time it takes for food to leave this pouch, which results in feelings of fullness after eating small amounts of food.

Sleeve Gastrectomy This type of procedure is generally performed on patients who have a body mass index over 50. It involves removing a portion of the stomach to create more of a sleeve rather than the pouch shape that the stomach has.

Gastric Bypass is a procedure results in dividing the stomach to create a small pouch that is directly attached to the small intestine. This pouch can only hold 1 ounce of food, though it may stretch in time to allow a person to eat about a cup of food at a time.

Obesity and weight loss surgical procedures in the U.S. are extremely expensive, but individuals traveling to foreign destinations can save thousands of dollars in excellent, certified facilities such as the Antiobesity Center in Cancun (yes!) Mexico to CTG Healthcare Group in Izmir, Turkey. Help is out there if you know where to look for reliable resources and information, such as PlacidWay, a quickly growing medical tourism and resource data center located in Denver, Colorado.

Medical tourists have ventured to the Middle East, Asia, and South America for heart transplantation, heart valve replacement surgery, and coronary artery bypass surgeries. They have flocked to South America for affordable cosmetic dentistry, bridge work, dental implant surgeries, and affordable dentures.

Individuals seeking the best in obesity and weight loss surgical procedures have traveled to locations in South America and Central Europe for the best in bariatric surgery, laparoscopic gastric bypass procedures, lap band surgery and sleeve gastrectomy procedures.

PlacidWay, a medical tourism portal based in Denver, Colorado, offers reliable, up-to-date information regarding popular medical tourism destinations, treatments, procedures, facilities, and the doctors and surgeons who staff them. Pramod Goel, founder and CEO, knows the type of questions people one answered when it comes to their health care, and is dedicated to providing that information.

After all, we should all have a choice in how, when, and where we receive our medical care. It’s all about choices. Medical tourism is bringing accredited, certified, and affordable world-class medical techniques and procedures into the common Health Care Industry and is the wave of the future, from teeth whitening to stem cell technologies.

Many of us are perfectly aware, when we wake up every morning and look in the mirror, that we may not quite appear the way we perceive ourselves. Many of us are battling the bulge, whether we’re teenagers, twenty-somethings, or pushing middle age or older.  As we age, our metabolism changes and we naturally tend to gain weight. Many of us don’t like to diet, and some of us don’t like to exercise. Unfortunately, when left to our own devices and our poor high calorie, high fat and high sugar food diets and habits, many of us inevitably deal with more than a bulge and may be considered overweight or even obese.

Morbid obesity causes a multitude of health issues, including diabetes, hypertension, coronary artery disease and generally places more stress on various organs within our body than most people realize. Many of us succeed in losing weight through exercise, nutrition and diet, while others need a little extra help. Unfortunately, the cost of bariatric or obesity surgeries in the United States is very expensive. Low-cost bariatric surgery, gastric bypass centers, gastroplasty procedure, laparoscopic band surgery and sleeve gastrectomy procedures found in other countries offer superior results utilizing state of the art and high-tech equipment from Mexico to the tip of South America to South Korea and India.

International medical travelers find cost savings of between 30 and 70% when seeking bariatric surgery or gastroplasty surgical procedures in foreign destinations. Gastroplasty costs in India saves thousands of dollars while offering travelers the benefit of an exotic vacation. Facilities such as 365mc’s Obesity Clinic in Seoul, South Korea, Ageless Wonders Panama, Mexicali Obesity Solutions in Mexico, or Artemis Health Institute in India offer individuals the best in weight loss and obesity procedures, techniques and treatments as those found in the United States, at big savings.
