LASIK eye surgery is an outpatient procedure, with minimum complications. The procedure is a highly technical and effective technique that is able to eliminate significant visual impairment.  Both eyes can be done at the same time, although most surgeons require at least a few days in between. The procedure is relatively painless, and local anesthetic drops are used with a mild form of sedation. Some patients feel a need to sensation for a day or two afterward. LASIK eye surgery also replaces the use of scalpels in such a sensitive area of the body, reducing the number of complications that result from more traditional surgical procedures.

In the United States, LASIK eye surgery can run anywhere between $500-$1000 per eye. In most cases, vision insurance does not cover the procedure in the United States, although some vision care insurance companies are starting to add it to their policies.

However, international travelers may find great savings in cost for eye/Lasik care abroad, by searching for the best eye surgeons in Thailand, or for popular eye surgery hospitals in Costa Rica, or even the best eye care in Poland to the most affordable eye hospitals in Singapore, while still obtaining excellence and quality by visiting such destinations as the Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital in Kerala, India or the Acibadem Healthcare Group in Istanbul, Turkey.

Corrective eye surgery is available for international medical travelers from Serbia to the Philippines, and from South Africa to Jordan and Guatemala. PlacidWay, an increasingly popular and resource for medical tourism, offers detailed profiles on such facilities, their treatments, costs and qualifications.

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery designed to help remove excess fat deposits from certain areas of the body. Women are more apt to consider liposuction than men, as it helps to improve proportion, body contours, and most importantly, self-image and confidence. Liposuction is also known as lipoplasty and can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Liposuction has long then one of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedures around the world. However, new technologies and developments consistently offer new or treatments and methodology is for international patients seeking the best in body contouring and appearance. Roura DermSurgery, a plastic surgery facility located in the Philippines, offers one such state of the art treatment, called the Vaser liposuction system, which utilizes advanced and patented fat removal technology that provides safer techniques as well as access to areas of the body including the knees and ankles, waistline, back, neck, and other locations that have often proved difficult for body sculpting or contouring for plastic and cosmetic surgeons.

The Vaser Lipo system utilizes ultrasound technology and differentiates fat from blood vessels, connective tissue and nerves, minimizing blood loss, reducing bruising, and providing rapid healing, smoother results and safer procedures. Recovery time is determined by the amount of fat removed as well as the number of sites on the body that are treated but most patients see immediate results.

Individuals utilizing newer and advanced liposuction technology benefit from more precise surgery, reduced recovery times and less soreness and pain that results from continually advancing minimally invasive surgical procedures.

As we all know, the cost of medical procedures is rising at a dramatic rate within the United States. Medical malpractice insurance for physicians and surgeons has driven medical costs for consumers through the roof. So, it’s not surprising that people are fighting back, and in an unusual way. A growing trend called medical tourism finds more Americans seeking medical help outside of the country.

Traveling to another country to have a wide variety of procedures done has grown increasingly popular as costs for procedures continue to cause financial hardship and strain. If you haven’t really seriously considered traveling to another country to have your procedure done, you should. Traveling outside of national borders saves patients thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on various surgeries and medical procedures. In some cases, choosing to have surgery abroad costs about a tenth of what you’d pay for the same procedure in the U.S.

PlacidWay, a medical tourism portal based in Colorado, USA, offers medical travel and global medical tourism resources, information and facility descriptions and certification for international travelers seeking affordable yet quality medical care and services.

Surgical and medical facilities outside of the United States, including those in Asia, e.g., India, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia, and North American cross border countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and Latin America; and Eastern Block/European countries such as Hungary, Norway, Poland, lure growing numbers of medical tourists with the best trained physicians, higher service standards and huge savings.
