Today, stem cell therapies are also being studied at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine to prevent acute lung injuries. Embryonic, placental, and umbilical cord stem cell treatments and research continues to focus on unlimited potential to treat, reduce the symptoms of, and perhaps potentially cure, degenerative disease processes such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s, and medical conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Facilities throughout the world, including those in stem cell treatment facilities in Mexico, the Ukraine, South Korea, and Western Europe continue to research adult stem cells, stem cell therapies, and potential stem cell treatments for everything from chronic illnesses to repairing heart, lung, or brain tissue damage by injury or disease processes.
Recently, over $230 million dollars in grants was awarded to a variety of California companies and universities for basic stem cell research in the treatment of diseases like AIDS and cancer. Today, most stem cell research and development is non embryonic in nature, but individuals anxiously awaiting the legalization of stem cell treatments and procedures in the United States may have some time to wait, prompting many citizens to travel to facilities such as that of Integra, with Dr. Omar Gonzalez or ProgenCell, located in Mexico, or EmCell facilities, located in the Ukraine.
In an effort to hasten the availability of stem cell treatment and research in the United States, a group of American doctors have formed the American Stem Cell Therapy Association, encouraging FDA approval of stem cell research. Until then, Americans are traveling abroad to reap the benefits of stem cell research and technology.

Stem cell research and development continues to move forward at an accelerated pace. Recently, researchers at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California completed studies that found that placenta stem cells may very well prove an important and valuable source for curing blood related disorders such as sickle cell anemia and leukemia.
Children’s Hospital in California is not the only facility that has been researching treatments and cures for formerly lifelong disease processes. Nearly every day, researchers and scientists find new ways in which the potential of stem cell research may be utilized in the pursuit of cures for neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s and many different types of cancer. Today, stem cell therapies are used to treat autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s disease and myasthenia gravis. Stem cell treatments have been used in the cosmetic and plastic surgical field as well as in the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.
Individuals suffering from cirrhosis of the liver, wounds, gangrene, multiple forms of anemia, and autoimmune diseases and disorders are looking for researchers to find effective and viable treatments through research of adult stem cell, embryonic, umbilical and placental stem cells.
Excellent facilities for stem cell research and therapy may be found in Mexico, Asia and Europe. Integrative Medical Center in Mexico and EmCell, located in Kiev and the Bangkok Hospital Medical Center in Thailand are just three well known destinations where international travelers seeking stem cell treatments may go for treatment for chronic illnesses and treatments in cardiovascular, immunodeficiency, cancer and neuromuscular diseases and disorders. Stem cell therapy research and treatments offer patients hope and will continue as long as research and developments continue to discover their untold benefits.
