Many of us don’t think about our teeth until we get a toothache, but did you know that dental health is directly connected to body health? An infected tooth or abscess can literally poison your body. That’s why it’s so important to take advantage of dental procedures that include everything from filling that cavity to obtaining dentures so you can eat and speak properly.

Dental care includes the basics of regular dental checkups. Don’t ignore toothaches, abscesses or chipped and broken teeth. Sure, dental care in the U.S. is expensive, which is why a lot of people are traveling to places like South America, Asia and Europe for dental and cosmetic dental treatment options.

Places like Hungary, Croatia and Poland are giving more traditional medical travel destinations like Italy, Mexico and Thailand stiff competition. Dentists and orthodontists in other countries are held to high standards of training and experience, just as in the U.S.

Other countries typically require membership or certification through Dental Colleges. For example, in India, a dentist should be certified through the Dental Council of India. In Singapore, a dentist should be registered with the College of Dental Surgeons. In Australia, dentists should be registered with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons. Take the time to ask or find out about certification requirements any country you’re interested in.

So take that vacation you’ve been dreaming about, and take care of your teeth while you’re there. Medical travel is the wave of the future, so don’t miss out on the benefits of travel and lower medical and dental procedures.

Bariatric surgery refers to any of several different types of weight loss procedures and surgeries. For example, an obesity surgery center might specialize in any of the following types of obesity surgeries:

Lap banding, also known as Laparoscopic Gastric Banding (LAGB), involves a silicone band placed around the entrance to the stomach. Patients might expect a 50 to 75% weight loss of 50 to 90 pounds in about 2 years.

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty is also known as stomach stapling. Surgical staples section off a small portion of the upper part of the stomach. Many individuals who choose this type of procedure are generally able to lose roughly 50% of excess weight within about 2 years.

Sleeve Gastrectomy is performed for those with a body mass index over 50. A major portion of the stomach is removed in this procedure. A person may expect to lose between 30 and 35% of their initial body weight, or roughly 40 pounds in about a year.

Gastric Bypass is a procedure that directly attaches a small portion of the stomach to the small intestine. This is a drastic procedure, but one that enjoys a high success rate. Patients lose between 60 and 70% excess body weight within a year.

Bariatric or obesity surgeries in the U.S. can cost between $17,000 and $30,000. Those traveling to global destinations may enjoy savings of tens of thousands of dollars in such locations as Mexico, South America and India. Accredited, state-of-the-art equipment and technology are making global obesity surgeries popular, common, and affordable in the 21st century.

If you’re like most people, you don’t necessarily want everyone to know you’re planning gastric bypass surgery or any other type of obesity surgeries. Many would rather deal with the procedure in privacy. If you’re an American dealing with the high cost of medical care and long waiting lists, consider undergoing bariatric surgeries or procedures in an exotic locale, while at the same time saving thousands of dollars.

Where can you go for bariatric surgeries these days? Mexico is one of the most popular medical tourism destinations for superlative obesity surgery center opportunities, followed closely by India and other Latin American countries. State-of-the-art facilities, highly trained and competent surgeons, friendly, compassionate staff to help you every step of the way – what more can you ask for?

Some of the highest rated gastric bypass surgery facilities that perform multiple types of procedures include the elegant Sanoviv Medical Institute along the Baja Coast in Mexico. Or, check out the facilities of the Almater Hospital in Mexicali, or Mexicali Obesity Solutions. Or further south, try Med Logistic Services in Columbia.

If you’re in the mood for some really unique destinations, investigate facilities in India such as the Sahara Medical in Gurgaon or Tour2India4health Consultants in Mumbai.

Regardless of which facility you choose, you’ll be pleased with the skilled service, the compassionate care, fantastic results - and the money you’ll save.
